KUCHING: A total of five police reports related to the 15th general election (GE15) offences were lodged Sunday, said Supt Douglas Nyeging.

Douglas, who is Sarawak police media spokesman for GE15, said one report involved a man who was arrested for allegedly damaging flags and posters in Kampung Boyan here.

According to him, the suspect is now being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.

“The suspect and another man were spotted damaging the flags and posters of a political party at the roadside of Kampung Boyan. The other man is still at large,” he said in a statement yesterday.

On the other four reports, he said they involved vandalism of political party flags, posters and banners.

Douglas also informed that a total of 290 permits for political talks and rallies were approved for Sunday throughout the state.

“The Sarawak Police Commissioner reminds political parties to ensure that their supporters do not commit illegal acts, so as to preserve the harmony among the people in the state,” he added.
