Jamit rallies Kapit youths to back Nanta in polls

KAPIT: Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department Jefferson Jamit Unyat has called on young and first-time voters here to rally behind Kapit incumbent Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi in the coming polls.

He said it was important for them to vote for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate to ensure the state coalition will be able to send a strong team to parliament.

“Staying united in politics is important and I call on all young voters here to make the right choice for Sarawak’s future.

“Give your best to provide a good campaign for Nanta so that he can win handsomely come Nov 19,” he said during a youth forum organised by the Youth wing of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Kapit branch here over the weekend.

The forum was a ended by some 100 youths representi­ng various associatio­ns.

Jamit also explained at length the various measures taken by the state and federal government­s in looking a er their welfare and education needs.

Speaking on behalf of the endees was Tommy Wong of SUPP Kapit Youth, who voiced their hope of seeing an institute of higher learning being set up here.

“Kapit is growing and it is high time for the government to establish a college or technical school to cater to the education needs of school leavers here,” he said.

Wong also spoke on the need to enhance healthcare services to include specialist services, and build more sports facilities as well as upgrade existing ones.

“For this to happen, we need to come together and vote for Dato Sri Nanta so that our elected representa­tive at both parliament and state levels are from GPS,” he said.
