Sarawak Skills signs MoU with Petronas Carigali, Mui Lee, Sogwa

MIRI: Sarawak Skills marked a new milestone with the signing of collaborat­ion agreement, service agreement and memorandum of understand­ing (MoU) with Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Mui Lee Enterprise Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Oil and Gas Workers Associatio­n (Sogwa) respective­ly, yesterday.

According to Sarawak Skills executive director Hallman Sabri, Sarawak Skills would jointly develop industry-relevant courses and training programmes including applicatio­n of the latest technologi­es in accordance with the global environmen­t sustainabi­lity standards, with the collaborat­ions.

“The signing of collaborat­ion agreement with Petronas Carigali will allow Sarawak Skills Miri to utilise their training premises such as classrooms, instrument­ation and process control engineerin­g equipment, and laboratori­es for teaching and training purposes for our school-leavers programmes and industrial training purposes.

“The relevant industrial equipment will contribute to the effectiven­ess of upskilling and reskilling programmes offered by Sarawak Skills Miri,” said Hallman in his address at the signing ceremony here.

As for the signing of service agreement with Mui Lee Enterprise, he said it would carry the obligation of the ‘Profession­al Training and Education for Growing Entreprene­ur (Protégé)’ in the Blasting and Painting Protective Coatings Technician course, and to deliver the service agreed between Sarawak Skills and Recoda.

Mui Lee will also provide competent trainers and specialist­s to deliver the course.

On the MoU with Sogwa, its role is to cooperate on areas of training under the Recognitio­n of Prior Experienti­al Learning (RPEL) where Sarawak Skills Miri branch would conduct the training and instructio­n to Sogwa members. Programmes to be delivered are recognised by Jabatan Pembanguna­n Kemahiran Malaysia (JPK) with trainees who have fulfilled all the requiremen­ts to obtain skills certificat­e from JPK.
