PSB will not take down referendum banners, says Miri candidate

-

MIRI: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) Miri candidate Datuk Lawrence Lai said the party will not take down their referendum banners as he believes the materials are not in breach of campaign rules and regulations.

According to Lai, his polling agent had received a call asking PSB to remove the campaign banners on the referendum put up at several locations around the city.

“I want to stress that we will not take down the banners which we have put up at a number of locations here,” he said in a press conference yesterday. As a lawyer and throughout our campaign, I am confident that I have followed all the campaign rules fair and just, whether through ‘ceramah’ or by putting up campaign materials,” he said, while adding that he will not budge on his decision for such demand.

“It is part of our election manifesto which is to ‘Restore Sarawak’. This is our fight if we are given the chance to serve the people here,” he stressed.

Adding on, Lai believed that relevant enforcement officers will not reprimand if a party makes a complaint, to which he believed that the complaint could have been made by a rival party.
