KUCHING: Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim called on Kota Samarahan voters to vote for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Rubiah Wang to strengthen women’s political participation and decisionmaking.

“GPS is inclusive for all races and is not gender-biased. We have women leaders, both new and experienced, who have been picked by our leadership to empower women in Sarawak,” he said at a meet-and-greet session hosted by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stakan Branch.

Rubiah, meanwhile thanked everyone for their support and gave her assurance that she will always be ready to serve her constituents in Kota Samarahan and bring their voice and requests to Parliament.

“We must win as many seats as possible for Parliament so that GPS will have a strong voice that will help Sarawak and Kota Samarahan to develop further,” she said.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has shown GPS’s efforts in helping everyone, be it from the rural or urban areas, in the quickest and most efficient manner,” she emphasized.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Stakan Branch chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok expressed hope to see a bigger representation of the coalition’s MPs in Putrajaya after this 15th General Election.

“This will help us restore our rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), while at the same time, to push for a much fairer allocation from the federal government,” he said.

“It is only by voting for GPS and winning the parliamentary seats that we can be stronger,” he added.
