Centexs hopes to host more international events
LUNDU: Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) hopes to see more international events hosted at its campus.
Its chief executive officer Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman said that by having more international events, it will give trainees the opportunity to gain exposure at an international level.
He added that as many as 40 trainees and alumni from Centexs have had the opportunity to gain insight and experience through the pageant; by assisting the professional beautician and photographer.
The trainees were from the Professional Diploma in Hair Design and Make Up, Professional Certificate in Enterprising Professional Photography and Social Media Content.
“This valuable experience can be er prepare our trainees for their future.
“We hope that there will be more international events to be hosted at Centexs,” he said during 25th Miss Tourism International World Final 2022/2023 Luncheon event held at its campus yesterday.
He added Sarawak has been known as an international business destination with excellent resources to entice business events from around the world.
“Therefore, hosting the 25th Miss Tourism International (MTI) 2022 World Final is a move into the right direction in promoting Sarawak to the world.
“Centexs is commi ed in supporting the government’s initiatives to revitalize the tourism sector through our trainee’s involvement,” he said.
Centexs had set up its Hospitality and Tourism Academy on Dec 1 2021, which was officiated by the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The academy aims to align with the Sarawak Tourism Master Plan 2030 in becoming a reference centre for skills training in related areas of the industry.
Also present at the event were Miss Tourism International president Tan Sri Danny Ooi, YAST Group founder Esther Law Lee Poh, Lundu district officer Gustian Durani, Centexs advisor Dr. Valdew Singh, Centexs Commercial Services general manager Shahreen Yusry, Centexs Lundu head of campus Dr Nor Ashikin Abdul Rahman and others.
