Voting For The First Time? Here’s What You Need To Know: You will then receive the ballot paper from the third polling clerk.

Bring your identifica­tion documents to the polling centre.

It can be your MyKad, passport, driving licence, temporary identifica­tion from the National Registrati­on Department (NRD) or receipt for lost identifica­tion card which has been certified by NRD.

Go to your designated polling centre.

You can only enter when permitted by police officers at the entrance.

Submit your identifica­tion document to the first polling clerk.

Show your hands for inspection.

The first polling clerk will pass your document to the second polling clerk for verificati­on. MAKE SURE, the name and identifica­tion number said aloud by the clerk is yours and correct. Head to the second polling clerk and when asked, dip your left index finger into the bottle of indelible ink. 6 7

(The first polling clerk will cross out your name in the electoral register when you ink your finger.)

Move to the polling station supervisor’s desk and leave your mobile phones. Absolutely no phones allowed at the voting booth!

Proceed to voting booth and place an ‘X’ in the empty space

next to your candidate’s name and symbol in the ballot paper using a pen. Choose only one candidate.

After you’ve

insert the voted, ballot paper in the correct ballot box.

Return to the supervisor’s desk and retrieve your mobile phones.

Immediatel­y leave the polling station after voting.
