EC teams to Ba Kelalan delayed by bad weather

LAWAS: The Election Commission (EC) yesterday called off helicopter rides scheduled to transport two polling station teams for Lawas parliament­ary seat due to bad weather.

Returning Officer Ladin Atok confirmed this and said the two teams that are stationed at polling centres in Ba Kelalan had been instructed to travel by land instead.

“The teams left Lawas town yesterday (Nov 18) in 4WD vehicles, while the other teams closest to the polling station will collect the ballot box from Lawas Police Station by 4am tomorrow (Nov 19),” he said.

“A total of 641 election workers are involved for Lawas parliament­ary seat, out of which 32 teams are stationed at Ba Kelalan polling station and another 49 teams at Bukit Sari in Lawas.

There are altogether 33,671 registered voters in Lawas this 15th General Election.
