75 Buddhist, Taoist bodies receive Unifor grants
KUCHING: Deputy Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian handed over Unit for Other Religions (Unifor) special Covid-19 sundry grants to 75 Buddhist and Taoist bodies at Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Auditorium yesterday.
Each received RM12,800 grants for their day-to-day operational costs incurred during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Sim, who is Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said the grants through Unifor are part of the government’s efforts to look after the interest of all Sarawakians irrespective of race and religion.
“We all should be grateful that only the Sarawak government gives and shows respect by giving grants to all religious bodies,” he said in a statement.
Among those present were Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, Temenggong Tan Joo Phoi, a political secretary to the premier Tan Kai, and Federation of Kuching and Samarahan Division Chinese Association president Dato Richard Wee.
