Polling stations in Sibu, Lanang all geared up for election day

SIBU: All 96 polling stations in Sibu and Lanang parliament­ary constituen­cies are fully prepared for polling day today.

Returning officer Khalid Andong said all 105,875 eligible voters for Sibu parliament­ary area this 15th general election (GE15) could vote at their respective polling stations, from 7.30am to 5.30pm.

“We are all ready with 1,865 staff members on duty for Sibu parliament­ary seat,” said Khalid.

Meanwhile, returning officer for Lanang parliament­ary constituen­cy, Teng Min Min, said more than 1,000 workers had been stationed at 42 polling stations for Lanang, which had a total of 87,356 voters this GE15.

SJK Hang Kwong would close at 2pm as the polling station only had 173 registered voters, she noted.

“SK Sentosa has the biggest number of voters with a total of 5,483 voters,” she said, adding that the ballot counting would commence at 5pm, at SMK Methodist.

“Health officers will also be stationed at the polling stations to facilitate those who are Covid-19 positive in the voting process,” she said, also advising all voters to wear face masks.
