Clerk loses RM20k to non-existence investment

-

SIBU: A clerk lodged a police report after she lost more than RM20,000 to an non-existence investment plan.

The woman, in her 40s, had in September came across a free investment advertisement on Facebook and left her personal contact after expressing interest to join.

A few days later, she received a message telling her to join the WhatsApp group of an investment company that provided a quick dividend of 5 per cent for every investment.

On Sept 11, she committed her first investment of RM2,000 and received a dividend of RM299.50 within a month. Encouraged by the quick returns, she decided to go for more.

On Oct 11, she invested another RM20,000 and waited for two months but received nothing. She then contacted the company but the line was already blocked and it was only then she realised she had been duped.

Police are investigating.
