Over 150 teachers, students compete in warm-up bowling event

KUCHING: More than 150 teachers and students took part in the Teacher And Student Bowling Competitio­n at Megalanes Sarawak, Batu Kawa recently.

The competitio­n served as a warm-up event to the Sarawak Internatio­nal Open Tenpin Bowling Championsh­ip to be held at the same venue from Nov 22 to 26.

Organised by Sarawak Sports Corporatio­n (SSC) and Amateur Bowling Tenpin Associatio­n of Sarawak (ABAS), it was also aimed as exposure for trainees from the Sarawak tenpin bowling developmen­t centres.

Top three in the teacher category were Fuad Samsudin (SMK Matang Hilir), Alexander Tow Ah (IPG Batu Lintang) and Rozalina Baha (SMK Matang Hilir).

Rayyan Adi Zayyad Rosmadi (SK Semenggok), Arceliuss Glenn Arthur Ray (SK Paya Mebi), Jose Chua Juan Chen (SJK(C) Bintawa) and Abdul Muiz Abdul Wahab (SK Petra Jaya) combined to win the student boys team event. SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang’s Ling Li Yuan, Darren Chai Yew Hong, Odwin See Kai Yuan and Aichner Martius Donatius were second while third place went to SK Garland represente­d by Abang Afiq Haziq Abang Mohammad Faizal, Syafiq Danial Syarul Nizam, Neilvis Ferdinand Ngali and Ralfyn Keeve Petrus.

The student girls team champions were Glynnis Choo Zhi Shian (SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang), Amber Tan Sze Shuen (SJK Chung Hua No. 4), Arwynn Galleina Arthur Ray (SK Paya Mebi) and Anathacia Gadding John Lon (St Stephen, Bau) followed by Nur Ameena Auni Mohammad Nizam (SK St Mary), Claudia Scarlet Chillter (SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang), Amanda Tan Yi Shuen (SJK Chung Hua No. 4) and Nur Fathi Fatihah Mohd Zakry (SK RPR Jalan Astana). Third was the combinatio­n of Nur Aisyah Qaireen Abdul Amir (SK Semerah Padi), Kueh Wan Ting (SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang), Nurul Iznatul Hanna Aswandy (SK Stapok) and Chelsyn Yong Jia Xin (SJK Chung Hua Sungai Tapang).

In the secondary school boys category, Oscar Ngui Zi Hao (Chung Hua Middle School No. 1), Rafael Mansion (SMK St Joseph Kuching), Abang Nur Haikal Abang Mahmood (SMK Green Road) and Mohamed Farhan Asgar Jahan ( Datu Patinggi Abang Haji Abdillah College) were crowned as the champions.

Second place was won by Ong Jui Yang (St Joseph Internatio­nal School), Alexzander Bryan Richard (SMK Batu Lintang), Muhammad Hafidz Daniel Nazri (SMK Gedong) and Syazani Samsudi (SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman).

SMK Matang Jaya took third place through Abang Muhamad Fauzan Abang Kamarudin, Amirul Afiq Mohamad Fikrie, Muhammad Hafidz Daniel Nazri and Awang Shahrulniz­am Awang Taha.

The secondary school girls category was won by SMK Batu Kawa’s Axiomara Tijan Andy, Graceiya Mal Neynia, Glenda Vanessa Lai and Amanda Thalia Sylvester.

Second place went to SMK Matang Jaya students namely Qasdina Auni Khan Akbar Khan, Audrey Elsie Anam, Mas Ezzatul Ain Aini and Fathiah Syuhada Mohamad Jeffrey.

SMK Matang Jaya also bagged third place through Nurqistina Balqis Muhammad Iqbal, Nurul Izyani Roslan, Siti Aisyah Syahida Virgilrism­anto and Nur Nadiyatul Mashitah Mohamad Guntor.

Prizes were given away by SSC CEO Morshidi Fredrick together with Sports Developmen­t Officer for Tenpin bowling Vernity Ricky, ABAS vice president Robert Lu Nam Min and Centre of Developmen­t coach Jerusha Chan Poe Yin.
