Future govt must stamp out corruption — PSB president

-

SIBU: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) president Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh has urged the future coalition government to be vigilant on stamping out corruption.

He stressed that it is of utmost importance as corruption is the evil that will bring down the country.

“If there is corruption, there is no way for the country to move forward,” he said, likening it to a cancer.

Wong added that corruption could prevent foreign investors from coming in, resulting in less development and the devaluation of our ringgit currency.

“Whoever is going to form the federal government, they be er be sure to bring about political stability and lead the nation with justice, equality, accountability and fairness to all.

“They also have to bear in mind the people’s welfare, which is most important so that the country can be on track towards stability and greater progress,” he said.

He also called on the future government to come up with measures to combat inflations and stop the rates from increasing.

He said inflation has caused price of goods and food items to soar, making it unaffordable.

Additionally, he said whichever coalition forms the next federal government must make sure that they fulfil what has been promised in their manifesto.

“It has been clearly spelt out in their manifesto what they intend to do, and they must make sure whatever is included in their manifesto; whatever promises and commitments they have made; they must fulfil it.

“This particularly goes to Democratic Action Party (DAP) and of course, Pakatan Harapan (PH).

“Because again, it looks like a ‘Chinese tsunami’ swing for DAP – even greater swing than the previous one in 2018. Again, the Chinese voters were hoping to combat corruption and get rid of Umno. So, they support DAP in PH, hoping that they will do that.

“I would urge DAP if they are in the (federal) government – they must fulfil their promises in their manifesto,” he said.
