SARIKEI: Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii has pledged to give his very best to serve the interest of the people who had voted for him in the recently concluded 15th general election.

Huang said that he would fight for funds from the federal government to implement planned infrastructure projects for the benefit of the people.

He was met by reporters after Returning Officer Kathereen Lalai Eddie Saga officially declared him the winner in a straight-fight against DAP’s Rodrick Wong Siew Lead with a majority of 3,697 votes.

“First of all I wish to thank the people of Sarikei for supporting me and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

Off course, I am very thankful to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Open and Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian for endorsing me to wrest back Sarikei from PH-DAP in this election.

“I believe, the people’s votes mean that they have put their trust in me and have high expectations for me to deliver development projects that will improve their livelihood,” he said.

Huang added that the people of Sarikei stand to benefit from more development projects from both the state and federal governments as he is also Repok state assemblyman.

He said that he will work closely with Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing to further develop Sarikei.
