Lukanisman retains Sibuti in landslide win

-

MIRI: Lukanisman Awang Sauni vowed to continue doing his best in return for the support the voters have given him in defending the Sibuti seat in a landslide win.

The re-elected Sibuti MP from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) thanked the voters for giving him the trust to continue to be their voice at the Parliament.

“I will return the support by pledging to provide quality service as well as listen to the voice of the people at the grassroots level.

“This is in line with my goal to voice out the people’s opinion; which has been my priority,” he stated to media when met at Bekenu Community Hall after winning the seat on Saturday.

Also present to celebrate Lukanisman’s victory were Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus, Deputy Minister of Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development Dr Ripin Lamat as well as supporters.

The one-term MP retained the Sibuti seat with a huge majority of 11, 745 votes after securing 22,150 votes.

He defeated Zulhaidah Suboh of Pakatan Harapan (PH) who obtained 10,405 votes and Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) candidate Bobby William who lost his deposit after garnering only 1,361 votes.

Lukanisman viewed the success was also due to the increase in number of voters – from 31,868 in the 2018 election to 58,522.

This, he said, contributed to a majority record for him.
