BINTULU: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is able to bring continuous development in Sarawak in years to come, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice president Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.

He said the people’s strong support in GPS has been clearly translated into their votes in the just-concluded 15th general election (GE15).

When asked on GPS candidate Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s victory in Bintulu parliamentary seat, he believed that the people have made it clear that they want Tiong to represent them in parliament for the sixth consecutive term.

“People in Bintulu, especially the rural groups wish to continue to support GPS for a strong voice in Parliament,” said Dr Rundi, who is also Kemena assemblyman and Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development.

Tiong, who is also Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president, one of the component parties in GPS, retained his seat a er polling 43,455 votes against Chiew Chan Yu from Democratic Action Party (21,287) and Perikatan Nasional’s Duke Janteng (5,650).
