Nancy to work with state reps to plan devt for Santubong

KUCHING: New Santubong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri a ributed her victory in the justconclu­ded 15th general election to the hard work on the ground by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) members, especially the three state assemblyme­n under the parliament­ary constituen­cy.

She said she will now discuss with the assemblyme­n of Tanjong Datu, Pantai Damai and Demak Laut on the developmen­t plans for her constituen­cy.

“One of the aspects would be the politics of developmen­t. When we talk about the developmen­t of infrastruc­ture, there should be an improvemen­t from time to time.

“Therefore, I will be discussing it with my ADUN (state assemblyme­n) beforehand to avoid duplicatio­n, and we will be ge ing back to everyone for the news,” she told reporters at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Saturday night.

As for the campaign which lasted for 14 days, Nancy said it was a challenge for the party.

“If we are not ge ing the majority that we deserved, the campaign wouldn’t be worth it. Therefore, in our tiredness, we must make sure that we won with huge majority.

“We have been working very hard so we make sure to get something good out of this,” she added.

She also thanked those who have voted for her during the election yesterday.

Nancy, who replaced Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar a er the la er chose not to seek re-election, defeated Mohamad Zen Peli of Pakatan Harapan and independen­t candidate Affendi Jeman with a huge majority of 38,681 votes.

Prior to this election, she was three-term Batang Sadong MP.
