Serian cops looking for recycling centre robbery suspects

KUCHING: The Serian District police are tracking down three men suspected to be involved in a robbery at a recycling centre in Tarat Jaya last Friday.

Serian police chief DSP Aswandy Anis said the three men entered the premises through the backdoor at 4.40pm and threatened a worker there with a knife.

“They then instructed the worker to open a drawer where the cash was kept, and made off with RM5,000,” he said in a statement, adding that the worker’s smartphone and identity card were also taken by the robbers.

“The men left the premises in a blue car. This case is being investigat­ed under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.”

Aswandy also called on those with informatio­n to come forward and assist in the investigat­ion.
