Uprooted tree damages longhouse chieftain’s porch and vehicles
KAPIT: An uprooted tree damaged the porch of a longhouse chieftain’s house at Genturong Tatai, Jalan Selirik here on Saturday evening.
The incident struck around 7pm during a period of heavy rain and strong winds. The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), in a statement, said firefighters were dispatched to the scene following a distress call from the house owner.
“No injuries were reported in the incident. Bomba personnel carried out an assessment of the situation before removing the fallen tree by cutting it up with a chainsaw,” it said.
The department added that the uprooted tree caused the roof of the porch to collapse and damaged two vehicles and a motorcycle parked there.
