PBDS: Whoever becomes new PM must be inclusive in nation building

-

Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) will respect whoever is appointed as the country’s new Prime Minister as long as the appointment is in accordance with the democratic process.

Its president Bobby William said what is more important is that the new prime minister be inclusive in nation building.

“We pray that the new prime minister will have his heart and mind to care for Dayaks in Malaysia, to be inclusive in nation building, and be fair in all aspects of economic and social status,” he said in a press statement yesterday.

Bobby also voiced PBDS’ support for Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form the new federal government. This, he said, is in view of the basic understanding of the Westminster Parliamentary democracy and the provision of the Federal Constitution where the party with the biggest number has the right to form the government.

On the just-concluded general election, he believed that the voters had chosen what is best for them for the next five years.

“PBDS congratulates those who have won, and also the Election Commission (EC), police and all relevant authorities for their efforts to start and conclude the election process.

“We also like to thank our voters, supporters and sympathisers for their trust and belief in our party,” he said, adding PBDS will be back to contest future elections be it parliamentary or state. Bobby had contested in the Sibuti seat but lost his election deposit a er polling 1,361 votes, against Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s Lukanisman Awang Sauni who garnered 22,150 votes.

Also in the fray was Pakatan Harapan’s Zulhaidah Suboh.
