Maludam treated water plant coming up — Deputy minister

THE Sarawak government has implemente­d a short-term solution for the water supply shortage in Maludam and Triso, said Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommun­ication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

“The RM10.25-million Maludam Treated Water Plant project has a capacity of 4.5 million litres per day.

“As such, 1,174 households in Maludam and Triso will benefit from the project,” he said in his reply to supplement­ary questions from Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor (GPS-Lingga).

Dr Abdul Rahman said although there were no Sarawak Alternativ­e Water Supply (Sawas) project in Lingga constituen­cy, there was one in Lingga District, namely in Banting (Bukit Begunan constituen­cy), which is in the implementa­tion stage.

With current physical progress of 10 per cent, the project is expected to complete in 2024, he added.
