Lingga rep: Sovereign fund to also benefit youth in rural, coastal areas

-

THE Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board Bill 2022 will benefit the youth, especially those in the rural and coastal areas, said Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor (GPS-Lingga).

She said as a representative of the youth from the rural areas, the sovereign wealth fund would mean that youths in dire need of educational assistance would be able to continue their studies to the higher level.

“I commend the Sarawak government’s move, which is working hard to rebuild dilapidated schools, and taking care of the wellbeing of children and teachers in the rural areas.

“The state government has offered sponsorships at various institutions of higher learning in the state to the B40 students to further their studies,” she said when debating the Bill.

She added that the Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Fund would provide more prospects to Sarawak youths and future generations to have various scholarships, sponsorships or even free education.

The Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board could also ensure economic stability for the state in the long term, she added.
