Fire damages coir factory, no injuries reported
SAMARAHAN: A coir factory at Kampung Semera Sadong Hilir here was damaged after a fire broke out Monday night.
The Fire and Rescue Department in a statement said personnel from the Asajaya fire station was sent to the scene following an emergency call received at 8.01pm.
It said the fire affected the area where the coir was stored, as well as parts of the factory’s roof.
No reports of injury were received, it added.
“Firefighters took some time to make sure the fire was fully extinguished as the coir was still emitting smoke.
“The operation ended at 9.01pm after thorough checks were carried out to make sure the fire would not reignite,” said Bomba.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
