Seven PH, three BN reps sworn in as Perak exco

IPOH: A total of 10 Perak elected representa­tives were sworn in yesterday as executive councillor­s in the first unity government between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

The swearing-in ceremony was held at 11.30am at the Istana Iskandaria­h in Kuala Kangsar before Perak ruler Sultan Nazrin Shah.

The new line-up consists of seven PH and three BN members.

The PH members are Woo Kah Leong (Pasir BedamarDAP), Loh Sze Yee (Jalong-DAP), A. Sivanesan (Sungkai-DAP) and Teh Kok Lim (AulongDAP), Sandrea Ng (Teja-PKR), Mohd Azlan Helmi Helmi (Tualang Sekah-PKR), and Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (Sungai RapatAmana­h).

The BN members are all from Umno, namely Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun (Lintang), Salbiah Mohamed (Temengor) and Khairuddin Abu Hanipah (Belanja).

The portfolios of each will be decided a er the first exco meeting.

Datuk Mohamad Zahir Abdul Khalid from Umno will continue to serve as the caretaker speaker until the first state assembly session.

Canning assemblyma­n Jenny Choy from DAP was appointed as deputy speaker.

PH won 24 seats while BN won nine seats in last Saturday’s state election that was held concurrent­ly with the 15th national polls.

Both coalitions were able to form the state government with 33 seats. The remaining 26 seats were secured by the Perikatan Nasional coalition.
