Man fined RM1,600 for trespassin­g into workshop

KUCHING: A man was fined RM1,600 in default one month in jail by a magistrate­s’ court here yesterday for trespassin­g into a truck workshop.

Lee Tze Ken, 29, paid the fine. He had earlier pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 447 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same Code, which provides for imprisonme­nt of up to six months, a fine of up to RM3,000, or both, upon conviction.

He committed the offence in Batu Kawa here around 1pm on Nov 18 this year.

Based on the facts of the case, the complainan­t in the case arrived at the workshop and saw five men roaming about the premises, with one of them holding a hammer.

Realising the complainan­t’s presence, they fled the premises but left behind a car and a motorcycle.

Lee was arrested the same day around 8pm following a police report lodged on the incident.

Insp Mohd Adzmei Ahmad prosecuted the case before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali, while Lee was unrepresen­ted.
