APM destroys hornet nests, beehive in separate locations
MIRI: Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel destroyed two hornet nests and a beehive at three houses here on Tuesday.
APM Miri officer Mirwan Shah Masri in a statement said a team of three was despatched to the first house in Taman Promin Jaya Greenville in Senadin at 7.01pm after receiving a call from a 22-year-old male complainant.
Upon arrival, the team spotted a beehive on the branch of a tree outside the house and destroyed it by spraying insecticide and setting it on fire,” he said.
Another team of four personnel was later deployed to a house in Pujut Padang Kerbau to remove a hornet nest.
A 38-year-old man informed the team that the hornets had built its nest on the roof of his house. The nest, about the size of a small car tyre, was destroyed using the same method, Mirwan said.
The same team proceeded to another house in Kampung Luak after having received a call on a similar case from a 32-year-old man.
“The hornet nest, also the size of a small car tyre, was found on the air-conditioner on the top floor of the two-storey house,” he said.
The operations ended at 9.40pm.
