Pre-schoolers take part in APM safety awareness drive

MIRI: The Civil Defence Force (APM) has conducted a safety awareness programme to some 136 pre-schoolers from Tabika Kemas Kampung Piasau Utara, Tabika Kemas Desa Pujut and Tabika Kemas IKBN.

The programme which took place yesterday, was spearheade­d by four APM personnel who delivered talks and demonstrat­ions throughout the two-hour programme.

According to APM officer Mirwan Shah Masri, the preschoole­rs were introduced to the 999 emergency lines comprising the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Malaysian Maritime Enforcemen­t Agency (MMEA), hospital and the police.

“Besides educating the young ones on emergency situations and calls as well as emergency preparedne­ss, the programme also aims to educate the young ones on the danger of making prank calls,” said Mirwan.

He added that the safety awareness programme was part of the Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan.
