Women keglers secure bronze in World Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia clinched a medal on the last day of the Internatio­nal Bowling Federation (IBF) World Cup 2022 in Queensland, Australia, when they captured bronze in the women’s team event yesterday.

The Malaysian quartet of veteran Esther Chiah, Sin Li Jane, Natasha Roslan and Siti Safiyah Amirah Abdul Rahman survived an intense five-game ba le against Americans Jordan Richard, Bryanna Cote, Danielle McEwan and Stefanie Johnson to triumph 3-2.

Malaysia won the first two games 226204 and 219-182 before the Americans hit back to take the next two 226-192 and 248220.

The Malaysian girls managed to rise to the occasion in the fi h game to win by seven pinfalls, 235-228, and seal the bronze medal.

Earlier, the national women’s team failed to reach the final a er losing 3-1 (190-237, 214-190, 207-240, 204-228) to Sweden.

On Tuesday, Timmy Tan missed out on the bronze medal a er going down 279288, 206-215 to American Kris Prather in the men’s individual event.
