Lai hopes Anwar fulfil promises made in GE15 campaign
MIRI: Parti Bersatu Sarawak (PSB) vice-president Datuk Lawrence Lai hopes that the new Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, would fulfil his promises made during the campaigning in the 15th general election (GE15).
“I sincerely hope that the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia and chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, would fulfil the promises made in Kuching, during the GE15.
“He promised that if they (PH) could form the federal government, then they would restore the rights under the MA63 (Malaysia Agreement 1963), to Sarawak unconditionally, and without further negotiations,” he said when met during a walkabout here yesterday.
“I hope that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would fulfil his election promises made to Sarawakians, about returning to Sarawakians all its oil and gas resources, as well as all its rights and interests, as stated in the MA63 Agreement.
“To start off, the federal government must repeal the Petroleum Development Act 1974 as it has breached the MA63,” he added.
Lai also expressed the hopes of many Sarawakians for the new Prime Minister to rebuild the Malaysian government into ‘a clean, trustworthy and accountable federal government’ and for him to ‘all the election pledges to the people’.
Throughout the walkabout yesterday, Lai conveyed his thanks to all those he met.
“I would also like to thank my Miri election team, especially the comrades from Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS), Sarawak for Sarawakians (S4S) and PSB, as well as all the volunteers and supporters who assisted me throughout the campaign,” said Lai, who was accompanied by PBK deputy director of media and publicity Leslie Ting.
