-

THE deputy prime minister’s post should be given to Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) to represent the Bornean states since the coalition had won the majority of parliament and state seats in Sarawak, said Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine.

“We want GPS representatives to be in the Cabinet of the unity government in the positions of ministers and deputy ministers,” he told reporters at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.

Royston pointed out that the results of the 12th state election last December and the recently-concluded 15th general election clearly showed

This will definitely have a direct impact on the support for the unity government that will be formed by newly appointed prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

the unanimous support of the people of Sarawak for GPS.

“This will definitely have a direct impact on the support for the unity government that will be formed by newly appointed prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.

Earlier, on the appointment of Anwar as prime minister, he said the decision was much welcomed.

“We agree with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decree for parties in the peninsula to form a unity government, for the sake of administrative stability in the federal government.

“We cannot have a hung parliament for a long time and decisions like this should be made immediately,” he said.
