Opar rep appeals for upgrading of Jalan Sedaing-Pasir Hilir-Kendaie

-

OPAR assemblyman Billy Sujang has appealed to the state government to upgrade the Jalan Sedaing-Pasir Hilir-Kendaie.

He suggested that it was high time for the red-soil road to be upgraded, paved and widened in accordance to the Public Works Department (JKR) R1 specification, which would cost about RM60 million.

“This 10km red and muddy road is often used as campaign material in every election and it is no exception during the previous state and general election, where the GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak) candidates had lost in area,” he said while debating the State Budget 2030.

Billy said the poor condition of the road made it difficult for small vehicles to pass through and some sections had been damaged severely.

“With the big injection for the 2023 budget, as the representative of Opar together with thousands of residents from Kampung Pasir Hilir, Kampung Kendaie, Kampung Bukit Batu, SK Kendaie and the surrounding area, we humbly appeal to the GPS government to upgrade this road. The construction of this road will benefit approximately 1,800 local residents,” he said.

He said another road that needed to be upgraded was the 6km-Jalan Kampung Pasir Tengah, which needed to be paved and widened up to 6m in accordance to the R1 specification.

“This road, if upgraded, will benefit about 1,000 local residents including teachers and students from SK Pasir Tengah to commute to the city- faster and safer.”
