Beting Maro rep asks for clinic upgrades, infrastructure to support agriculture activities
KUCHING: The health clinics in Pusa and Beladin should be upgraded to hospitals as an effort to provide quality healthcare for Beting Maro constituents, said its assemblyman Razali Gapor.
He said hospital-grade health clinics will be able to provide more healthcare services such as imaging services and laboratory tests that are very much needed to provide complete and comprehensive health check-ups.
“Currently, patients have to be referred to Betong Hospital and Sarikei Hospital to receive further treatment.
“With the increase in the number of kidney patients, I request that a haemodialysis centre be set up at the Beladin Health Clinic to facilitate the patients, rather than having to travel 70 kilometres to the facility at Debak Health Clinic,” he said.
Meanwhile, Razali said folks living in the coastal areas are in need of special attention as they are facing setbacks to develop the agriculture sector.
He said they are in need of agricultural infrastructures such as road access, irrigation and drainage systems to open up agricultural lands that are free from salt water, which is a threat to crops.
“To improve on the economy in Beting Maro, I call on the government to develop 3,000 acres of land to grow pineapples in Kampung Beladin, Pusa, and Sg Lamun Tambak - and 5,000 acres of land for coconuts in Semarang, Spinang and Batang Maro.
“I also appeal to the government to establish an aquaculture industrial zone for the production of shrimps, and develop Sg Beras Agropark in Beladin to increase production of Sarawak agro-foods,” he added.
