Farmer fined RM800 for criminal intimidation
A farmer, 57, was fined RM800 in default two months jail by a magistrates’ court in Belaga yesterday after he pleaded guilty to criminal intimidation.
The accused, Shon Janen, who was unrepresented before Magistrate Flavian Edward Henry, paid the fine.
He was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum seven years’ jail or a fine or both upon conviction.
According to the charge sheet, Shon criminally intimidated Ugu, 69, at 1.45pm on April 19 at Jalan Jiwa Murni, Sugnai Peguan, Belaga. Based on the facts of the case, Shon with several villagers including a community leader were discussing a land dispute.
During the discussion, Shon said ‘Ini tanah bukit kalau ini bukan tanah milik aki saya (aki Bering) saya mati. Barang siapa dia antara kamu yang memberitahu tanah ini milik kamu macam inilah kamu mati’ while cutting the head of a live chicken.
This was said because the accused were not satisfied with the discussion.
