PAS to discuss with PN component parties regarding unity government – Takiyuddin
KUALA LUMPUR: PAS will discuss with component parties of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the near future regarding Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s offer for the coalition to join the unity government under his leadership.
Its secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, in a statement yesterday, said the discussions will also look into the views and willingness of the people, especially those responsible for giving PAS and PN an encouraging performance in the 15th general election (GE15) last Nov 19.
Anwar, in his maiden press conference after his appointment as prime minister on Thursday, said that the unity government formed, which so far involved the participation of Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), will ensure the stability of the country and its economy as well as uphold the spirit of the Federal Constitution.

Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said PAS also congratulated Anwar on his appointment as the 10th Prime Minister .
“PAS is confident that he (Anwar) will discharge his responsibilities well, fairly and with benevolence, as well as prioritise the concept of federalism which is appropriate for all states and the people,” he said.
PAS also congratulated the Yang di-Pertuan Agong AlSultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah for His Majesty’s wisdom in discharging the functions as provided under the law, especially on the appointment of the Prime Minister based on Article 40(2)( a) and Article 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution, he said.
