Driver injured in two-vehicle accident

KUCHING: A driver sustained injuries to her body and face after the car she was driving plunged into a drain after an accident with another vehicle near the junction at Jalan Pasir Pandak at 7.13am yesterday.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a statement yesterday said the driver of the other vehicle and her passenger only suffered light injuries.

Both were pulled out to safety by members of the public from their vehicle which landed on its roof at the roadside.

At the scene were personnel from the Petra Jaya fire station who used a stretcher to bring the victim out of the drain.

The driver of the first car was then given first aid by Bomba’s Emergency Medical Rescue Services before being sent to hospital for further treatment.

Rescuers also cleared the area of the debris caused by the accident.
