Fruits festival brings cheer to Sarikei folk
SARIKEI: The Sarikei Pineapple and Fruits Festival has put everyone in a festive mood over the weekend.
The crowds were seen patronising over 200 trade booths along Jalan Central, Jalan Market and in parking spaces around Sarikei Central Hall here on its first day yesterday.
Among the participating booths were the Agriculture Department with its exhibition on Agriculture and Food Industry; the Divisional Entrepreneur Development Council and its ‘Sarikei Kitchen’; Sarikei Resident Office with its expo on ‘Digital Pavillion’; and the ‘Planetarium Exhibition’ by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development.
Another crowd-pulling event yesterday was the blowpipe competition in the compound of Sarikei Civic Centre, hosted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development.
Repok assemblyman, who is also Sarikei MP Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii officiated at the festival’s launching ceremony yesterday evening.
