Bulatan Park closed two days to remove threat of wild bees — MCC
MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) has issued a twoday park closure notice for Miri Bulatan Park, effective yesterday.
MCC, in a statement, said the park closure was to enable the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) to carry out elimination of beehives and life-threatening wild bees found at the public facility.
“Upon receiving the advice from Miri Bomba, the public park shall be closed temporally so as not to pose any safety hazard to the public while the elimination work is being carried out by the fire team,” said the council.
MCC also expressed regret that a few park-goers had been attacked by wild bees during an incident occurred Saturday, which resulted in the death of an elderly man.
In view of the incident, MCC said it would take precautionary measures to ensure the park would be free from any safety hazard before being reopened to the public.
