Quick action by public snuffs fire at auto workshop

BINTULU: Swift action by the public saved an auto workshop at Jalan Durian Belanda, Taman Lucky here from being destroyed by fire yesterday morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the fire only damaged the front bumpers of two cars left there for repairs.

It said firefighte­rs were deployed to the scene after being notified of the incident at 6.34am.

“The fire involved only a machine and two cars where their bumpers were damaged by fire.

“The structure of the building was not affected and the fire was extinguish­ed by the public using a fire extinguish­er before the arrival of firefighte­rs,” it added.

Firefighte­rs ended the operation after ensuring the situation was safe.
