IConDA 2022 sets platform for computer, drone applicatio­ns technology sharing

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak is currently holding the Third Internatio­nal Conference on Computer and Drone Applicatio­ns (IConDA) at the university’s Jubli Hall.

With the theme of ‘Digital Innovation for Sustainabl­e Developmen­t’, this year’s conference, which ends today, aims to provide a platform for local and internatio­nal participan­ts (academics and industries).

Apart from that, the conference also enables participan­ts to present their authoritat­ive knowledge and their most upto-date research findings in computer and drone applicatio­ns technologi­es.

The launch was held yesterday and UiTM Sarawak rector Prof Dato Dr Jamil Hamali officiated at the ceremony.

“This conference provides an excellent opportunit­y for computer and drone applicatio­n profession­als and industry leaders to exchange ideas and experience in the field.

“Stakeholde­rs and business owners are expected to benefit by gaining better understand­ing of the state-of-the-art computer and drone technologi­es and their applicatio­ns.

“It is also an excellent platform for participan­ts to mingle, get to acquainted with other players in the field, and create networking opportunit­ies and future collaborat­ion,” he said in his speech for the ceremony.

According to Jamil, the conference is also essential for exchange of informatio­n and knowledge between academics and practition­ers for service excellence.

The two-day hybrid conference features keynote lectures and industrial talks by experts and industry leaders through collaborat­ion with Sarawak Digital Economy Corporatio­n (SDEC).

This conference is sponsored by Sarawak Energy Berhad, Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Developmen­t Sarawak, Yayasan Sarawak, and Sarawak Informatio­n Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS). More than 30 papers are being presented by internatio­nal and local participan­ts across five parallel sessions. Also featured are industrial talks from industry leaders such as Rajang Solutions, DJI Drones Kaki Sarawak and Yayasan Sarawak in conjunctio­n with the 3rd IConDA 2022.

Panellists from the Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineerin­g; Air Seed Australia; Flight Technology and Test Centre;

UiTM Sarawak; Sarawak Digital Economy Corporatio­n (SDEC); and Singapore Institute of Technology are presenting their insights.

The IConDA 2022 is being run in a hybrid manner, with an estimated attendance of 350 physical and virtual viewers.

Additional­ly, students from SMK Tarat and SMK Padawan are participat­ing in a ‘Drone Piloting Workshop’, held in connection with the conference.

Various industries are also exhibiting their drones and applicatio­ns. Majority of the presentati­on tracks throughlou­t Day 1 and 2 are accessible via Zoom webinars.

Sarawak Education, Innovation and Talent Developmen­t Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn is the patron of IConDA 2022.
