SMK Chung Hua Miri wins silver at World Robot Olympiad in Germany

MIRI: The robotic team of SMK Chung Hua Miri made their school and country proud after emerging as among the five Malaysian teams who won medals at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in Dortmund, Germany that took place from Nov 17-19.

SMK Chung Hua Miri won silver in Robosports (Open) category, whereas the team from SJKC Jalan Davidson, Kuala Lumpur won silver in Future Innovators (Elementary) category.

SJKC Taman Connaught from Kuala Lumpur won bronze in the Robomissio­n (elementary) category; whereas the team from SMJK Katholik, Petaling Jaya and IPG Miri each won the excellence award in future innovators (junior high) and future engineers category. respective­ly.

As many as 365 teams comprising 2,049 students from 73 countries around the world took part in the Olympiad.

SMK Chung Hua Miri board of directors chairperso­n Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Chai Yu Lan is proud of the team’s performanc­e despite the challenges faced during the two years of Covid-19 where no physical learning took place and hindered the team from practising.

“Winning is something the school can be proud of, but it is also important to enjoy the learning process, the creativity and the experience as that will last a lifetime,” said Chai.
