S’porean and Indonesian teams win water polo tourney

KUCHING: Chinese Swimming Club (CSC) A Singapore and Kasuma Harapan Indonesia were crowned as champions of the Boys U16 and Women’s Open respective­ly of the 1st Kuching Invitation­al Water Polo Championsh­ip which ended at Pandelela Rinong Aquatics Centre, Petra Jaya on Sunday.

In the all-Singapore Boys U16 final, CSC A were simply too good for 28 Degree Quicksilve­r, beating them 14-9.

The third placing went to Taiwan Water Polo Club who edged Kasuma Harapan Indonesia 13-12 in the playoff for third and fourth positions.

Meanwhile, in the Women’s Open final, Kasuma Harapan Indonesia beat WMWP Kuala Lumpur 14-6 to li the title. In third place were PASC.

Other teams which participat­ed in the competitio­n organised by PASC were Acube Water Polo Singapore, Pacer Water Polo Academy Singapore, Srikl Sharkies Water Polo, and Tridents Negeri Sembilan.

Political secretary to Premier Sarawak Tan Kai gave away the prizes.

Also present were Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) president Kapitan Tan Kun Gee and advisor Voon Yong Hui who is also the event’s organising chairman.
