Providing best service to community remains priority — Bintulu OCPD
The recently concluded 15th General Election (GE15) went on smoothly with Bintulu voters exercising their rights in a peaceful manner, said Bintulu police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit.
He commended everyone involved in the election campaign and voting process for their maturity in democracy and added that the police will continue to provide the best service with integrity to the community.
“Despite several obstacles during GE15, we were able to overcome the challenges with cooperation and support from all in the police force,” he said at the monthly police assembly at the district headquarters (IPD) here yesterday.
In his speech, he extended his appreciation to all IPD Bintulu staff and police personnel for their high commitment in carrying out their duties, particularly in combating crimes such as drug abuse, burglary, motorcycle theft, commercial crimes and other illegal activities.
“A good cooperation with the local community and related agencies is vital so that crimerelated information can be obtained as best and fast as possible,” he said.
Batholomew asserted that the spirit of teamwork ought to be instilled among all police personnel regardless of ranks in order to reach its common goal – to keep Bintulu safe.
The crime index recorded in Bintulu is under control, he said, although he commented that there are certain divisions in the IPD Bintulu that require regular upkeep such as the Criminal Investigation, the Narcotics Crime Investigation, the Commercial Crime Investigation, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement as well as the Crime Prevention.
Earlier, Batholomew presented certificates of appreciation to 10 police retirees, senior and junior officers, and civilian staff of IPD Bintulu.
Also present were IPD Bintulu Management Division head ASP Gunong Bilan, division heads and senior police officers.
