KUALA LUMPUR: It was a huge motivation for the Malaysian finalists of the redONE PSA & WSF Satellite Series #3 Squash Tournament 2023 held at Bukit Jalil Stadium here recently, in that the event had boosted their world ranking.

In the Men’s final, 16-yearold local player Low Wa-Sern outperformed Shota Yasunari of Japan, but in the Women’s category, it was a battle between Malaysians – Doyce Lee and Jessica Keng – which ended with Doyce clinching the win.

The meet was organised by Ace Sports & Management, which is authorised to host and promote tournaments across Asia.

Formed by a group of squash enthusiasts, the sports management company has secured the approval from the World Squash Federation (WSF) to conduct a total of 12 tournaments all over Malaysia for this year alone, starting with PSA WSF Satellite #1 at the Royal Sungei Ujong Club in Seremban on Feb 16.

The other meets have been scheduled for March, June, July, August, October, November and December, slated to take place across Peninsular Malaysia, covering Bukit Jalil Squash Centre, Nicol David International Squash Centre, and Royal Sungai Ujong Club – just to name a few.

These tournaments would serve as a platform for Malaysian players to compete against and simultaneously gain experience from the opponents from different countries, with the advantage of being on homeground.

Each satellite series would have a draw size of 32 players for Men and Women’s categories.

With every match and conduct being in strict compliance with the Professional Squash Association (PSA)’s rules and regulations, the tournament offer total prize money of US$1,000 per category.

These series are live-streamed on social media and in addition to that, they also feature some highlights including coaching clinics for young players and meet-and-greet sessions with the professional players.

“Embarking on our ambitious three-year roadmap, we are proud to announce that we will be organising a series of highlyanticipated satellite tournaments in Jakarta, Indonesia slated for next year.

“These tournaments will serve as a stepping stone for aspiring players, enabling them to gain valuable experience and exposure on the international stage.

“Additionally for 2024, we have plans to host additional satellite tournaments, along with the highly regarded PSA Challenger Tournaments, right here in Malaysia,” said Ace Sports & Management promoter Jadish Kumar.

The main sponsor for these satellite series is redONE Network Sdn Bhd.
