Kong Chiong Ung elected as new ACCCIS president for 2023-2026 term
Bintulu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Kong Chiong Ung has been elected as the new president of the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) for the 2023-2026 term.
The election was held during an annual general meeting in Bintulu last Saturday, with Kong succeeding Dato Tan Jit Kee whose term recently expired.
Tan will continue to serve ACCCIS as one of its vicepresidents.
Dato Lau Cheng Kiong, previously the vice-president, was elected as the deputy president.
Other key appointments include Dato Jonathan Chai Voon Tok who remains as secretary-general, and Noel Yek Nae Shiuan as the newly elected treasurer.
Five other vice-presidents and 23 council members were also elected at the annual general meeting.
Kong in his address expressed his gratitude for the support of all members, and promised to serve with dedication during his tenure as well as strive to achieve ACCCIS’ objectives.
He also extended his appreciation to Tan for his leadership and sacrifices throughout the years.
Further announcements regarding additional appointments will be made during the upcoming first council meeting in the coming weeks.
Established in May 1965, ACCCIS serves as the umbrella organisation for all Chinese chambers of commerce and industry in Sarawak, comprising 22 constituent members across all 12 divisions.
The annual general meeting was graced by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing’s representative, Datuk Dr Wong Aik Loung.
