KCWA seeks to unite, be voice of Kapit Chinese womenfolk

-

Kapit Chinese Women Association (KCWA) seeks to be the voice of the Chinese womenfolk here by bringing them together under one platform.

In stating this, KCWA chairman Pemanca Wong Kie Ing called on all Chinese women in Kapit, regardless of age or social background, to sign up as members to strengthen the association.

“The time has come for us women in Kapit to come together under KCWA so that our voices can be heard.

“Apart from looking after the welfare of our members, KCWA is also active when it comes to organising social and recreational activities to foster closer ties,” she said.

Wong said this during the association’s Mooncake Festival celebration, here Tuesday evening.

The gathering also saw KCWA present monetary incentives to 14 children of members for achieving excellent results in their school and public exams last year.

“The incentives are meant to encourage the students to continue working hard so that they can be successful in the future and make their parents proud,” Wong added.

Also taking place during Tuesday’s gathering was the distribution of ang pows to KCWA members aged 65 and above, as gesture of appreciation for their contributions to the association and community at large.

The monetary incentives for the students and ang pow for the senior citizen members were sponsored by KCWA adviser Chieng Pek Ho.

Among the invited guests were Bukit Mabong district office Calvin Linggong, Kapit District Council walikota Lating Minggang, Temenggong Datuk Wilfred Billy Panyau, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Penghulu Jenny Yu, and Penghulu Sng Chee Hun.
