Aina Abdul awes pedestrians in Bukit Bintang with performance before announcing concert

-

LUMPUR: Malaysian singer Aina Abdul took to the busiest streets of Kuala Lumpur to perform for pedestrians yesterday.

At around 4.45pm, the 37th Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL37) winner, dressed in a huge white gown, walked along Bukit Bintang from Pavilion KL accompanied by loyal fans known as Ainations as they made their way to the entrance of Starhill KL.

Aina then went up a mini platform setup in front of the shopping complex and proceeded to perform three of her hit songs including her AJL-winning song Terus Hidup for onlookers.

Ainations could be heard singing along as curious onlookers stopped to enjoy the performance.

“To perform at one of the most famous spots in KL is really special to me. This is truly a dream come true. I’ve done some busking around here previously and had also performed at gigs with bands here. It holds a sentimental value to me and which is the reason I’ve chosen this area.”

The mini showcase was in conjunction with the announcement of her upcoming solo concert A Night with Aina Abdul 3.0 to take place November 18 at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil.

Aina will be performing 33 songs at her third solo concert backed by an orchestra and band, led by acclaimed music directors, Mac Chew and Jenny Chin.

She promised fans a slew of new music at the concert as she will be releasing her first studio album soon before her third solo show.

The 30-year-old singer who is collaborating with Yayasan Prihatin Nasional (Prihatin) this time around, also promises fans affordable ticket prices.

This is after she had made headlines for her previous concert, A Night with Aina Abdul 2.0 in Istana Budaya last year which received complaints from the public due to pricey tickets.

“Last year we received many complaints on the expensive ticket prices. I was down at that time after being bombarded with comments from social media users because of the ticketing prices.

“They also compared me with other artists’ concert ticket prices and it left me feeling uneasy as at that time, everything was already planned and I couldn’t do anything about it. But this time around, I’ve discussed with my team and we’ve agreed to offer affordable ticket prices to all,” Aina said.

In collaboration with Prihatin, which was established to provide various assistance to the poor and disadvantaged , a portion of the ticket sales from A Night with Aina Abdul 3.0 will be channelled to the Tabung Kasih Prihatin to help underprivileged students.

Prihatin’s chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Aizuddin Ghazali said part of the proceeds from the concert will be used to provide educational benefits to underprivileged university students from among the ‘asnaf’ (eligible to receive tithe) and B40 categories.

“We will be channelling 10 per cent of the ticket price to universities and students who are in need. Aina has agreed to this earlier on and we want to put forth this concept of ‘giving back and entertaining’ so that these students can also benefit from the concert,” Aizuddin said.

Tickets for the upcoming A Night with Aina Abdul 3.0 will go on sale this Sept 15 (Friday) with ticketing price starting from RM98 to RM458.
