The need to upgrade Bintulu Hospital would be brought to the Federal Cabinet so that the application for it to have better facilities could be approved at the central level.

Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa delivered this assurance during her visit to the hospital yesterday, where she was accompanied by Health directorgeneral Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan and her Ministry of Health (MoH) team.

“What we see is that Bintulu (Hospital) needs improved facilities and better health services.

“Of course, there are things that we can implement immediately and there are also things that we have to study. Among the things we approved are those related to facility development projects,” she told reporters yesterday.

According to her, her ministry has approved an allocation of RM300,000 for the improvement works on the facilities at Bintulu Hospital.

“Myself and YB Tiong (Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing who is the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Bintulu MP) will bring this matter to the Cabinet level, to discuss how to include it in the 13th Malaysia Plan or the Fourth Rolling Plan and Fifth,” she said.

“God-willing, there are other things and many things that we will implement. We will release a media statement about the things that we have decided in Bintulu, based on the results of the official visit that I made today,” she added.

At the same time, the minister said the official visit was at the invitation of Tiong in connection with this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations.

Among the places that Dr Zaliha, Tiong and the MoH team were several facilities at Bintulu Hospital, Kidurong Health Clinic and Bintulu Health Clinic, as well as the Bintulu Health Office.
