MagnumCares donates RM3,000 to kidney foundation
SIBU: The MagnumCares donated RM3,000 to the Sibu Kidney Foundation (SKF) yesterday.
The donation was presented by Magnum Sibu representative Philip Tiong to SKF manager April Wong.
Also present were Magnum business development officer Ling Han Chen and SKF senior officer Emily Lee.
MagnumCares said in a statement that the donation was part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme for charitable organisations.
“MagnumCares is delighted to usher in the Year of the Dragon in its 40th year of supporting welfare homes across the country with its flagship CSR festive initiative, the ‘Welfare Homes Outreach’ programme, marking a significant milestone in spreading joy and happiness in anticipation of the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.
“Apart from elevating the festivities, MagnumCares is proud to continue this tradition of giving back to support senior citizens, disabled communities and orphans from over 230 welfare homes, impacting more than 20,000 lives nationwide in this programme that contributes over RM770,000 in donations, festive goodies, essential home groceries and ‘ang pows’.
It added: “In Sarawak, 34 selected welfare homes with more than 3,000 individuals benefited from MagnumCares’ ‘Welfare Homes Outreach’ programme with a total of RM104,000.00 given out to the respective beneficiaries this year.”
The initiatives also aimed to enhance the living conditions and improve the overall wellbeing of residents in these welfare homes by implementing 3Rs activities (repairing, refurnishing, replacing) with MagnumCares signature Home Enhancement Programme (HEP) where infrastructure improvements and enhancements to essential amenities will be undertaken.
“This includes installing ecofriendly LED lights, replacing old furniture and appliances, painting and renovating homes, decorating green corners, and building or refurbishing therapy and play areas for special needs children,” it said.
Meanwhile, some 40 inmates at Sibu Blind Centre also received contribution from MagnumCares yesterday.
