Society hands over cancer guidebooks to church’s hospital ministry

-

The Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching (SCAN), as part of its commitment to fostering community well-being, handed over copies of its publication ‘So You Have Cancer, What Now?’ to the Hospital Ministry Group of the Methodist Church to be used in its cancer patient visitation programmes.

The presentation ceremony took place at Wisma Methodist, Jalan Pisang here recently.

The publication is a compilation of stories from cancer patients and survivors.

These first-hand accounts of resilience, hope and triumph aim to offer encouragement and inspiration to those currently going through their own cancer journeys.

Rev Teo from the Hospital Ministry expressed her sincere appreciation for the thoughtful contribution.

“The donation empowers the church ministry to continue their mission in providing comfort and companionship to patients facing difficult times, as well as offering patients a sense of solidarity and hope during their treatment.

“By sharing the experiences of others who have overcome similar challenges, the book serves as a powerful testament to the human spirit’s strength and resilience.”

The books were presented to Teo by SCAN advisor Datin Dayang Mariani Abang Zain.

Dayang Mariani remarked: “This highlights the collaborative spirit between community organisations and faith based groups.

“Together, we contribute to the well-being of patients by offering a touch of hope and a reminder that they are not alone in their fight.”

SCAN is a registered society and a Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) member.
