Yinson’s FPSO Maria Quitéria set to sail to Brazil in 2Q24

-

Yinson Production has officially named FPSO Maria Quitéria and with that, the project is progressing according to schedule and is set to sail to Brazil by the second quarter of 2024 (2Q24).

The naming ceremony was held at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Shanghai) Shipyard in China.

According to its press release, the FPSO Maria Quitéria is a conversion project with a production capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of 1,000,000 barrels.

The vessel will be the first FPSO in Yinson Production’s fleet to operate heat recovery steam generation (HRSG) as part of its combined cycle power generation system. HRSG is one of several technologies that is implemented across its fleet, in line with its continuous efforts in reducing carbon emissions and being the frontrunner in decarbonising the FPSO industry towards the goal of net zero.

Yinson Production was awarded the FPSO Maria Quitéria project by Petrobras in November 2021 and the conversion works commenced on January 25, 2022.

The project has been progressing according to schedule, with all topside modules onboard and integrated, and commissioning underway.

Sail away to Brazil will be in 2Q24 and the asset will be deployed at the Jubarte field located in the northern part of the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil.

FPSO Maria Quitéria is Yinson Production’s third FPSO destined for Brazil, following FPSO Anna Nery, which has been operating for Petrobras since May 2023, and FPSO Atlanta, which is expecting first oil in summer this year and will operate for Enauta Energia S.A.

Commenting on the naming of FPSO Maria Quitéria, Yinson Production’s chief executive officer Flemming Grønnegaard said, “FPSO Maria Quitéria incorporates state of the art technologies to reduce emissions and increase efficiency, setting new standard.

“These technologies, together with our ability to complete the asset on time, are showcasing our innovative design capabilities and project execution excellence once more.

“We thank Petrobras and all our stakeholders involved in this project for their trust and unwavering support and are committed to achieving a timely first oil and contributing towards Brazil’s energy landscape.”

Project manager Noel Denton added, “We have maintained zero loss time incidents exceeding 20 million manhours so far, reflecting our commitment to the highest HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) standards, preparing for its journey to Brazil.

“This successful delivery is only made possible through the hard work of the Project Team.

“We are thrilled to continue with this project, and we remain focused on achieving first oil as scheduled.”

Petrobras contract manager, Tiago Pace Estefen said, “Petrobras extends its congratulations to Yinson Production, Cosco Shipping and other stakeholders involved in reaching this significant milestone. With operations planned to commence soon, FPSO Maria Quitéria will assist in providing for the energy demands in the region.”

Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry general manager, Jiang Jijiang said, “We take pride in our ongoing efforts on the newly christened FPSO Maria Quitéria. The naming ceremony marks another significant milestone in this project and upon completion, we are assured of its endurance and performance in offshore Brazil.”
